These pages contain some text and photos based on a recent trip to
Vancouver Island in Canada.
Victoria B.C. is located on the southeastern edge of Vancouver Island.
The island has an unusually mild climate because of the surrounding
Pacific Ocean and has some remarkably fine gardens and parks with very
contented-looking plants. In additon, it is quite interesting geologically
because it has been on the boundary of a tectonic plate for over 100 million
years and, thus, has a variety of rock types. Glacial features are also
prominent; the glacial polish and grooves are particularly impressive
on the wave cut terraces on the shorelines on the southern side of Victoria.
